Jessica Rai McIntosh, Madison, TN shares the following stories from their December Help-Portrait event:
Stephanie & Jeff
We met a couple in their late 50s, Stephanie & Jeff, who had never had their portrait taken together. They stayed with us for a good portion of the afternoon telling us about their life, how they met & it touched every single person in the room.
Arthur and his daughter
Arthur just looked at us with astonishment and kept asking, “You mean this is all free? It’s amazing how God provides just what we need. I can’t thank you all enough for being so generous and giving us all this.”
Aracely Lara & her children Michael & Michelle
It was amazing to meet so many people, from so many different walks of life. I think the biggest take away for me was realizing that most people just desire to be heard and loved. By doing something a simple as taking their portrait, listening to their stories & having a cup of coffee with them we gave them dignity. We gave them the chance to he heard & we genuinely loved listening, I think we walked away with several new friendships with both guests & volunteers. It’s amazing how this event drew so many people together.
