“I had a man come in who had been an addict for his entire life. His face was filled with scars and signs of a hard life. He was extremely nervous and evasive, which made him difficult to photograph. I finally got one frame where he looked in the camera. It is my favorite shot from the day. The man left before I could give him a print. Later, I learned that this man had been involved in a fire a few years back, and that another addict had saved him. When his savior walked in for a portrait, I almost cried.” –Erik Bergan, Narvik Nordland, Norway
