Get Involved

Help-Portrait is a movement of photographers, hairstylists and makeup artists who are using their time, equipment and expertise to give back to those who are less fortunate. If that’s you, and you’re interested in getting involved, you’ve come to the right place.

Since our launch in 2008, Help-Portrait has become more of a movement and less of an organization. People in nearly 70 countries have caught the vision and ran with it. Because of this viral effect, not all groups have utilized our platform to organize their local events. Today, finding an existing group can be challenging, but we’re here to help.

1. Find a Group

The best way to find an active local group is a Google search. We recommend searching for the following format: “{city state} help-portrait.” It may seem simple, but it’s effective.

You can also check out our community forums as events are sometimes posted here.

2. Join a Group/Event

Once you’re able to locate an active group, we recommend reaching out to the group leader to see how you can connect and get involved. The earlier you join, the better your chances of playing a meaningful part in the event.

3. Start a Group and/or Event

If you’re interested in starting your own group and/or event, fill out this form so we can register you and send the Help-Portrait Event Director’s Kit. This kit will provide you details on how to start and lead a group effectively, use the HP brand, answer questions about merchandise, fundraising and submitting your event statistics to be included in our global impact report.

Community Support

Due to the size of the Help-Portrait movement, we rely on the community to help each other with questions and answers. We’ve provided a forum for you to submit your questions to the community for feedback. Of course, you’re welcome to use the FAQ page.
